My first 18ct one! When I picked this up, I knew it was special; it’s heavier than the usual, and superb quality, and it has four tiny little screws, not just the engraved ones that the later examples have! Admittedly I thought they were tiny balls at first, but of course screws make more sense! Having scrutinised it, I think the ‘screws’ have pegs going into the padlock, another mark of quality. If the ‘screws’ were simply soldered on, they would be vulnerable and might become detached over time.
It’s a fabulous version of the classic padlock pendant, beautifully made, and so much better than the average ones you see around. The screws are my favourite bit! The arm of the padlock is more substantial than usual, and the clasp mechanism is just spot on. The click is ASMR heaven!
