Antique Diamond 'S' Stickpin
Well…this is pretty spesh, don’t you think? I was so excited to find this. At first I didn’t realised the S was ONE WHOLE DIAMOND, how do you even carve/cut that? It’s small but my goodness does it throw out some fire! So so nicely set, the gold creates a chunky little frame for the diamond, which is screaming to be converted into a pendant. I have included the cost of converting in the price (my jeweller will use the pin), so all you need to do is tell me exactly how you want it done. I’ve been trying to estimate the carat weight, virtually impossible. but I would give a rough guess of 0.40-0.45ct. It’s a beautiful bright diamond, there are a couple of little inclusions but they aren’t visible with the naked eye.
I just can’t believe how cool this is, it’s got age but I really can’t tell exactly how much! I had a massive panic about it being lab grown (it’s not, I got it tested), but it made no sense, because it was done so nicely and who would put a lab grown diamond in a stick pin today?!
I have never seen anything quite like this, I’ve seen diamonds cut into horses heads and some other shapes, but personally have never seen letters, and I very much doubt I will every have anything like this again!
Era
I really don’t know exactly! Best guess would be circa 1920?!
Material
18ct yellow gold (tested) and diamond
Measurements
The S measures 7.2 × 5.2 × 2.8mm, the entire piece is 65mm long
Condition
Excellent
