Antique 'Goldrush' Shaker Locket Pendants
How cool are these? They must have been made as little tourist souvenirs from one of the 19th century gold rush sites in America (California, Colorado, Nevada and South Dakota were the biggest). The gorgeous little lockets (firmly shut, you can’t open them) are actually made in rolled gold, this would have allowed production in large numbers to make them more affordable and accessible). Super fun, the ridged borders contain a generous sample of tiny gold flakes, and if you catch them in the light they are BEAUTIFUL, super shimmery and utterly golden (well, duh!).
I have two identical lockets available to purchase.
Era
Mid to late 19th century
Country of origin
I’m presuming USA but possibly Australia
Material
Rolled gold, high carat/pure gold ‘flakes’ and glass
Measurements
11mm diameter, 24mm long including the bale
Condition
Excellent
