Firstly, lets talk about proportions. Never have a had a buckle ring so wide, it’s mega! Though it’s wide, it’s so comfortable to wear, being slightly convex in shape, which adds to the chunk. I love the presence it has on the finger.
Secondly, the decoration!! It’s divine! Apart from the actual buckle itself, the whole ring is covered in engraved flowers and foliage, there appear to be scrolling ferns, it’s so busy and beautiful. Incredible that it hasn’t been worn off at the back.
Buckles in jewellery have long symbolised fidelity; an unbreakable bond, but also strength and loyalty, all the good stuff! A friend of mine has one as his wedding band, it couldn’t be more meaningful.

Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, with Birmingham date letter for 1887, and a worn maker’s mark GL & Co
M (UK) just over a 7 (US) \the width is 9mm, on the buckle it is 11.5mm
