Early Victorian Gold Cased Heart Locket
Such a pretty, pretty thing. These cost a fortune in solid gold, this is a chance to nab a locket just as well made, but for a fraction of the price. And it’s so so good that no-one would ever guess.
You can wear this both ways, with the plain gold side facing out, to show off the gorgeous shape of the heart, or the otherway, showing the glazed compartment and intricate engraving. The engraving is just like snake scales on rings from the same period, just beautiful.
The glazed locket part can be prised out (I managed it with a pin and a bit of patience!) to take a treasure of your choice, as long as it is small enough!
Era
Circa 1840
Material
Gold cased metal and glass
Measurements
Without the bale 19 × 17 × 6.5mm
Weight
2.5 grams
Condition
Very good
