Epic Victorian Silver Collar and Two Colour Gold Locket
Wow wow wow. Just so much going on here, this is such a beautiful example of great Victorian style, I adore it.
The collar consists of little bow-shaped sections, engraved with the most pretty, intricate floral design, and it looks just as good on it’s own as with the locket. It sits beautifully either way, a real mark of quality.
The locket is an elongated oval shape, studded on the outside edge with little silver balls. The floral decoration is rendered in rose and green gold overlay, a really tricky technique, and there is further rose gold decoration, along with gorgeous engraving. Even the bale is engraved.
Not only do we have a very cool, wearable collar necklace, we have a beautiful oval locket. It’s super duper decorative, and very skilfully overlaid with two colour gold decoration. Just amazing. This piece is also rather versatile and can be worn in several different ways. Two floating bolt rings mean that the drop part can be fully detached, leaving the collar on its own. You can attach any pendant/fob to the collar thanks to the bolt ring too. The section connecting the collar to the locket can be removed for a shorter look, and the locket can be removed and replaced with something else, lot of options to play with here. It’s unreal.
The two frames have survived inside the locket but it isn’t glazed. Inside is some blue fabric, which has been there for some time.
This really is a very special piece, so very Victorian in style, and perfectly executed, but just as importantly, in amazing condition, and wearable today.
