Exquisite Georgian Two Row Old Cut Diamond Ring
Siiiiiiigh. I just don’t see many of these. That’s because they are old, rare, and highly sought after. Simple as that. This ring is simply stunning. Two rows of 7 old cut diamond twinkle away in the magical way that only old cuts can (if you know, you know) and the mount is fine, yet substantial. It’s not scary to wear like some older rings. It’s WEARABLE! Hurrah! The back is open (a lot of Georgian jewellery is closed back) so we don’t have to live in fear of getting it wet! It’s just perfect.
I love the way a little nick has been taken out where the head meets the shoulder, it creates an illustion that the head is ‘floating’ and lightens the piece. As would be expected the diamonds are mounted in silver, which then joins the high carqat gold in the rest of the mount. The design is simple but decorative, and oh so Georgian. Early 19th century jewellery lovers rejoice!
