Incredible 18ct Rose Gold Antique Mermaid Signet Ring

£1,100.00

I got all the feels when I put her on my finger. Not only is this gorgeous ring seal engraved with the most incredible family crest, a mermaid, it has been gently worn over time, to soften each edge of the ring, and erase elements of the engraving, leaving an spectre-like image of the beautiful siren. We can see a hint of her face, her breasts, her belly button and scaled tail. It is a truly magical piece, that for me, feels truly bewitching and other-worldy.

As mentioned, the edges of the ring have been softened over time, and the ring feels gloriously silky and luxurious when worn. This ring can go on and never come off. I adore the slightly unusual shape of the ring itself, it’s not a simple round or oval head, but slightly squared, and the substantial shoulders taper down quickly, making it a divine little chunk of gold. The ring is small, suited for a pinky finger, but can be sized within reason.

Mermaids have been referenced throughout history, from tempting but deadly sirens in the Odyssey and classical art in general, to the loveable and inquisitive Arial in The Little Mermaid. Whether you see mermaids in a more classical sense, or they are more of a childhood obsession that ever left, this ring (and let me say I have never seen anything like this) will be an incredibly special addition to your jewellery collection.
