Victorian Pavé Turquoise Dove Pendant with 9ct Chain

£450.00

The dove has long represented peace, love and devotion, this beautiful little jewel is such a pretty representation of those values. I’ve had quite a few pavé turquoise jewels but never a dove, and this one is just so perfectly formed, he looks like he might just fly off into the sky! The meticulously set turquoise cabochons are all original, and a few have changed to a more greeny hue, something you would expect with a piece this old, and most definitely part of it’s charm. The little head is cross hatched and it even has minuscule garnet eyes, such a real treasure.

The pendant is a conversion, my guess is that it used to be a stick pin (I bought it like this). The chain is perfect for it, delicate, but suitable for everyday wear, and that barrel clasp, with it’s satisfying and secure click, makes getting pendants on and off easy peasy.

If you would like to buy the pendant without the chain, please get in touch as I can separate them.

Era

Circa 1880

Material

Turquoise and silver with garnet eyes, the chain and jump ring are 9ct gold

Hallmarks

The jump ring is stamped 9 .375 for 9ct and the clasp of the chain is stamped 9ct

Measurements

The chain is 16.5’’ long, the pendant is 15.2 × 13mm long (without bale)

Condition

Very good antique condition. The reverse of the dove shows a conversion mark, and the barrel clasp has a teeny ding, but functions perfectly. The jump ring is slightly wonky on the pendant but it’s so charming with its hallmarks I don’t want to change it! But I can put a new one on if you like.
